What Is the Egypt eVisa?

The Egypt eVisa is an electronic tourist visa issued through Egypt’s online visa system for nationals who are eligible to use the portal. The official portal lists, among others, Australian, Canadian, UK and US passport holders as nationalities that may apply, but eligibility must always be checked against the passport used for the trip.

An eVisa is obtained before travel: applicants submit their information online, pay the government fee by card and receive an outcome by email. This differs from a visa on arrival, which may be available in certain situations but is a separate route with passport-specific conditions.

An approved eVisa does not guarantee admission. Egyptian border authorities make the final decision on entry.

How to Apply for an Egypt eVisa Online

Step 1 — Choose How to Apply for Your Egypt eVisa

Before starting your Egypt eVisa application, check that your nationality and passport are eligible. Before starting your Egypt eVisa application, check that your nationality and passport are eligible. Our specialized partner offers optional application assistance, with an easy-to-use form, a review of your information and personalized support where available. You can also apply independently through the Egyptian government's official eVisa portal. The private service involves additional fees.

Step 2 — Create Your Account or Start Your Application

On the government route, create an account, confirm the registration and sign in before selecting a new application. If you use a private assistance service, follow its separate application process; do not assume it uses the same account system as the government portal.

Step 3 — Choose Single or Multiple Entry

Choose a single-entry tourist eVisa when your itinerary involves one international arrival in Egypt. Choose a multiple-entry tourist eVisa only if you expect to leave Egypt and return during the visa’s validity period. Domestic flights within Egypt do not create another international entry.

Step 4 — Complete the Egypt eVisa Application Form

Enter your personal and passport details exactly as they appear in the passport you will use to travel. The official process also requires travel-related information, and travellers should have their itinerary and accommodation details available where relevant to their visit.

Step 5 — Review Your Information and Pay

Check names, passport number, nationality, travel dates and selected visa type before submission. The official portal collects the government fee by card; optional private assistance, if chosen, is separate and may add a service charge.

Step 6 — Receive Your Application Decision

After payment, the application is processed and the official portal says applicants receive an email with the current application status once processing has taken place. Do not travel on the assumption that an application will be approved.

What Documents Do You Need for an Egypt eVisa?

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date. The official eVisa information also identifies a travel itinerary and, for tourists, hotel bookings or details of places to visit as arrival requirements.

During the online process, provide only the information and supporting details requested for your application. At arrival, carry your valid passport and a printed eVisa copy. Business or family visitors may also need the relevant supporting letter for their visit.

Make sure every name, passport number and nationality used in the application matches the travel document exactly. A passport renewal or a mismatch can affect whether the eVisa can be used.

How Much Does an Egypt eVisa Cost?

The official government fees shown on Egypt’s eVisa portal are:

Visa typeNumber of entriesOfficial government fee
Tourist eVisaSingle entryUSD 30
Tourist eVisaMultiple entriesUSD 65

These are government visa fees. If you choose optional private application assistance, additional service charges may apply separately.

How Long Does an Egypt eVisa Take?

Egypt’s eVisa portal instructs travellers to create their application at least 7 days before departure. The portal does not present this as a guaranteed 7-day processing time, so apply earlier where possible and allow time to resolve any missing information or application issue.

If departure is close, check whether your passport is eligible for another lawful entry route before making travel plans. Do not rely on an unapproved or pending eVisa to board or enter Egypt.

How Long Is an Egypt eVisa Valid?

Visa validity is the period during which you may use the visa to travel to Egypt. It is different from the amount of time you are allowed to remain in Egypt after entry.

Visa type Validity period Maximum stay Entries
Single-entry tourist eVisa Up to 3 months Up to 30 days One
Multiple-entry tourist eVisa 6 months Up to 30 days per entry Multiple

Egypt’s Ministry of Interior describes the multiple-entry eVisa as valid for 6 months. Public official eVisa guidance does not provide a single universal stay allowance for every electronic tourist visa in the same place, so rely on the conditions shown on the visa issued to you and verify your itinerary before departure. Do not assume that the visa validity period is your permitted length of stay.

Single-Entry vs Multiple-Entry Egypt eVisa: Which Should You Choose?

Example 1: London–Cairo–Luxor–Hurghada–London. This itinerary involves one international arrival in Egypt. Flights between Cairo, Luxor and Hurghada are domestic travel, so a single-entry eVisa is normally the relevant option.

Example 2: New York–Cairo–Amman–Cairo–New York. Leaving Egypt for Jordan and returning to Egypt is another international entry. A multiple-entry tourist eVisa may be appropriate if the traveller is eligible and the return falls within the visa’s applicable validity conditions.

How to Download and Print Your Egypt eVisa

Once approved, the official process provides an email notification and a link to download the eVisa from the applicant’s account. Download the document, check its details and print a clear copy before travel. Egypt’s eVisa instructions say the printed eVisa must be presented to the immigration officer at the port of entry.

How to Check Your Egypt eVisa Application Status

Applicants using the official route can sign in to the account used for the application to access pending applications and should monitor the email address used during registration. The official portal states that applicants receive an email with the current status after processing.

If you used a separate private assistance service, its updates are separate from the government portal’s account and email notifications.

What If You Make a Mistake on Your Egypt eVisa Application?

Before submitting and paying, carefully review your first name, surname, passport number, nationality and travel information. These details should match your passport exactly.

After submission, do not assume a correction is available. The official eVisa portal warns that incomplete applications can be rejected, so contact the relevant application channel promptly if you discover an error and follow the instructions you are given.

Egypt eVisa Rejected or Not Received: What Should You Do?

First, check the account and email address used for the application, including spam or junk folders. Review whether the application was complete and whether the details match the passport.

An eVisa processing fee is described by the official portal as non-refundable. If an application is refused, remains unresolved or is not received before departure, do not presume that you can travel under the eVisa; check the available lawful options for your passport and itinerary.

Do Children Need Their Own Egypt eVisa?

Each visitor must have an eVisa application submitted through a personal account. Egypt’s official eVisa information states that parents can apply for their children from the parent’s account. Children travelling on their own passports should therefore be included with their own application details.
