What is Philippines eTravel?
Philippines eTravel is the governmentโs digital travel-information system for border control, health surveillance and related travel processing. It is an arrival declaration system, not a visa and not a decision on whether you may enter the Philippines.
Most arriving foreign and Filipino passengers and crew members are required to register or update their eTravel information. The official rules list limited exemptions for certain diplomatic and official travelers. Your passport, travel purpose and other entry requirements may still matter separately, so an eTravel QR code does not replace a visa when a visa is required for your journey.
eTravel and a Philippine visa are different requirements. eTravel is a travel declaration; a visa, where required, is an immigration document.
When should you complete eTravel registration?
You may register within the 72 hours before your arrival in the Philippines. Do not try to complete the arrival registration too early. The official system also allows eligible travelers to update their record when they travel again.
Complete the form while you have a stable internet connection and enough time to review your answers. Although registration is online, keep your travel schedule handy and do not leave the QR-code step until you are already at the airport.
What to prepare before filling out the Philippines eTravel form
Gather the information you will need before opening the form. This makes it easier to enter consistent details and review them before submitting.
- Travel document details: Use the passport or travel document you will use for the trip.
- Flight or voyage details: Check the carrier, travel date and planned arrival information against your booking.
- Philippines stay details: Keep your intended address or accommodation information available if requested by the form.
- Contact and personal details: Enter them carefully and consistently with your travel document.
- Health-declaration information: Answer the health questions truthfully and review the answers before submission.
Official eTravel registration is free when completed directly through the government platform. Travelers who prefer additional help can separately choose an optional private assistance service for support with completing and checking their information.
How to complete eTravel Philippines registration
The exact screens may change, but the practical order is straightforward. Start or update the appropriate eTravel record, enter the requested passenger and travel information, complete the declarations, then review the confirmation before you leave the system.
- Register during the 72-hour window. Select the registration or update route that matches your travel.
- Enter your identity details carefully. Check spelling, date of birth and travel-document information against the document you will present for travel.
- Add your journey information. Review the arrival date and travel details against your booking before continuing.
- Complete the declaration truthfully. Do not guess when a question concerns your health or travel history.
- Review before submitting. Look for mismatched dates, a wrong document number or an incorrect arrival detail.
- Save the QR code immediately. Download it or take a screenshot before closing the page. A printed copy is also accepted.
How the eTravel QR code works
After successful registration, eTravel issues a QR code. Keep it accessible for your journey: airlines may ask to see proof of registration before boarding, and the code is used during arrival processing.
A green QR code indicates that the required information has been successfully submitted; on arrival, you can then proceed to immigration inspection. A red QR code requires additional Bureau of Quarantine verification before immigration formalities.
If you accidentally create more than one registration for the same trip, use only one QR code during inspection. Switching between different codes can create delays or confusion.
Can you correct or update eTravel after submitting it?
Some information can still be changed through the official Edit Registration function, provided you have not yet been processed and verified by the relevant border-control authorities. The official guidance does not promise that every field will remain editable, so check the available options in your record rather than assuming a particular detail can always be changed.
If your itinerary or another important detail changes before travel, retrieve your registration, review the available update options and make any permitted correction before you present the QR code. If you can no longer edit the record, seek guidance through the official eTravel channel or your carrier rather than relying on an outdated confirmation.
What if you lose the QR code?
You can retrieve your personal QR code through the official Edit Registration area using your reference number and date of birth. Save the recovered code again before leaving the page. It is sensible to keep both a screenshot on your phone and another accessible copy, such as a printout or a securely saved file.
eTravel for families and group travel
Travelling as a family or group does not remove the eTravel requirement for passengers who fall within the categories required to register. Make sure the required eTravel information has been completed or updated for each traveler concerned and that the corresponding proof of registration is available before travel.
Keep each travelerโs registration details and QR code clearly identifiable. The current official eTravel guidance does not describe a general group registration or a single QR code that replaces the individual registration requirements of other travelers, so do not rely on one travelerโs confirmation as proof for the whole family or group.
Common eTravel mistakes to avoid
- Registering outside the permitted window: Arrival registration is available only within 72 hours before arrival.
- Using details that do not match the travel document: Compare names, dates of birth and document details directly with the document you will carry.
- Closing the page without saving the QR code: Download, screenshot or print it immediately after submission.
- Using different QR codes during the same inspection: If you made multiple registrations, select one code and present that one consistently.
- Assuming the QR code is a visa or entry approval: It is neither; separate entry rules may still apply to your passport and trip.
When a personalized check is useful
eTravel is only one part of preparing for international travel. A personalized check is useful if you are unsure whether eTravel applies to your traveler category, which passport or document details to use, whether Philippines visa requirements may apply, or how a route involving transit affects your trip.
For a simple airport connection without entering the Philippines, the practical requirement can depend on your itinerary and whether you must pass Philippine border control. Check the travel requirements for your exact route rather than treating all connections alike.
